2014 America the Beautiful Quarters Uncirculated Coin Set

Today, July 8, 2014, the United States Mint began accepting orders for the 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters Uncirculated Coin Set. This ten coin set includes uncirculated examples of each of this year’s quarters from both the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. These coins have previously been released within the 2014 Uncirculated Coin Set.

2014 America the Beautiful Quarters

The sites depicted on this year’s quarters include Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, Arches National Park in Utah, Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, and Everglades National Park in Florida.

packageThe ten coins come packaged in a folder illustrated with an image from each site on the front and interesting facts about each site within. The folder also incorporates coin specification information and a certificate of authenticity.

Each set is priced at $12.95. Orders fulfilled through the US Mint’s Online Subscription Program are eligible for a discounted price of $11.65 per set. There are no mintage, product, or household ordering limits imposed. The US Mint indicates that the sets will remain available for one year from the initial on-sale date or until inventory is depleted prior to the one year time frame.

Last year’s set had gone on sale earlier in the year on April 25, 2013. The most recent sales figures show 39,342 units sold. The set has continued to remain available past the one year time frame indicate on the product page.

Great designs this year. Look even better in silver, especially 5 ounce pucks. I am also seeing these more in change than in prior years.

  2. Sith says

I have not seen one yet…what is the difference between this set and the Circulating Coin Set? Is it just the packaging? How do you distinguish uncirculated quality from circulating quality?

  3. KEITHSTER says

Special presses using greater force is how they say it so it should be a deeper strike? Don’t get these but did get some of the 10’s because of the special finnish. I collect the uncirculated circulating ones by the roll from the bank at face and have gotten them all except the first and prefer those although the end one is damaged in the rolling the rest should be fine. So Good Luck All :>:>:>

  4. fmtransmitter says

I asked the Credit Union to order me some, said they can’t. Guess that is why that Branch is closing, horrible customer service…lol

  5. Louis says

No bank where I live, or credit union, will order them. It’s because of the Fed and the poor way they distribute them.

  6. Sith says

    Thank you KEITHSTER!

fmtransmitter – You use to be able to request certain coins but no longer, the banks can only order quantity not series.

  7. JOSEPH says

So what is the average price of BHOF Gold PCGS PF70 FS and MS70 FS? anyone has an idea?

  8. KEITHSTER says

I don’t know but it can be done just got 3 more rolls of the Arches yesterday. It’s a small bank with 2 branches they seem to get in about 3 boxes each time about 2 weeks after release. They ship one to the small branch were I get most of mine but have been known to go to the other to get more! they have had differant limits over time seems to be up to 5 on the arches. Had to open a savings account at no charge and just put in what I can before the next release and two weeks later if I don’t have any cash on me just take it out of the account. It’s been working sweet ever since so keep looking it’s fun. And Good Luck All:>:>:>

  9. GoldFishin says

@Keithster- glad to hear the little boogers aren’t jumping out of your hand and making a run for it anymore! happy collecting <-<-<

  10. VA Rich says

Sales report out ~ collectors of the UNC AGE may make out from the JFK release & rising Au

  11. Dave says

Try Costco and Target. They are always the first in SW FL to have the ATB AND ALWAYS PPERFECT CONDITION,!

  12. merryxmasmrscrooge says

If you are rich and unaware, you would skip buying the Ida McKinley UNC Gold Spouse today 7/9.
Mintage now 1,801. Harding Spouse on sale tomorrow 7/10 Ida may be sold out to become the new KEY under 2,000. I can’t afford it, but if I could I would.

  13. fmtransmitter says

I will try Target and COSCO, thanks, I bet they DO have first dibs on new quarters and the purchasing department is AWARE enough…More than banks!

  14. fmtransmitter says

UNCIC HOF half showed…Boy that thing has some bad marks on it and looks like it was made in a hurry. Now I know why collectors pay more for MS70’s, they are rarer to find! I think I will stick with proofs or graded MS if I am to want any…

  15. bg35765 says

I work for a bank and discussed this with the guy who orders our coins and currency. The Fed took away the ability to request new quarters around 2009.

The only new coins or currency we can request are bills and that is only during a short window before Christmas so we have nice crisp bills for gifts.

Costco and Target probably use a large nationwide bank. Their (the bank’s) coin orders would be larger which might make them more likely to get new coins. Target cannot place orders directly with the Fed, only their bank can.

  16. Louis says

@merry- good point. But didn’t the Mint continue selling the 2012’s last year after they released the 2013’s? Then they pulled them altogether before the end of the year. Anyway, if this does happen, there goes the premium for the Hayes and Garfield.

  17. Larry says

How about a set like this, but just the “S” mint quarters. I generally do not by clad coins, but that might be something I would buy. I don’t need a roll or bag of each “S” mint quarter, just one would be fine.

  18. says

    hmmmm….
Doing my daily updates on the BHOF Golds and Silvers and on the Gold side I kept seeing the same seller pop up over and over again. Decided to do a specific search “2014 baseball gold coin ms70” (auctions only) and of the 77 sold listings 26 (34%) was this specific seller. Further research shows that all 26 sells have been done in the last 11 days and they do approximately 3 auctions per day, all MS70’s. For SOME reason they have never auctioned off a MS69 or a proof Gold. So just how lucky can one seller be to get all those uncirculated 70’s and never get a 69? Oh…. yeah….They just happen to be located in the same city as the TPG that the are selling …hmmmm…

  19. ips_stuff says

@CAGCRISP – yes I have bought one from the Florida based company last week at 770 and the next two days the action where even less

I sold my first strike MS70 for 1750 and repurchased without the first strike label for 770 so I am okay if they continue to drop some.

The Silver BHOF also continue to drop. This also may be a result of summertime, not seeing much action or even posts on this site

  20. Blair J Tobler says

Larry – I agree. I end up buying the “S” quarters at the end of the year in the secondary market. As for the “P” and “D” uncirculated, I only buy them in the 28-coin unc set. But if the mint added the “S” quarters to the above set, they could get me (and others like me) to buy this set as well. Of course, what I would really like to see them do is add the “S” quarters to the full unc set, but I guess that would be too much to ask for!

  21. jy says

yes! i was on the waiting list for a gold proof baseball. today my credit card got pinged, and order status now says “In stock and reserved” – sure did take a long time, but glad i didn’t cancel…

  22. jy says

@cag, looks like it was on the 28th at 12:41 PM – thought i was too late, but i guess not.

  23. Johann says

BHOF gold proof ordered march 28th at 11:09 am just went to in stock and reserved .

  24. SilverFan says

The ultimate key to the First Spouse gold series will be Jackie Kennedy regardless of mintage. Demand will drive the value, especially since mintages are capped now at 5 or 10K not minted to demand.

  25. Johann says

Now I’ll wait and see if the gold pf. Ordered march 29th at 8:07 am makes the cut.

  26. high low silver says

Is the Mint going to notify people that ordered before the wait list? My gold hof is on hold

  27. KEITHSTER says

Ya I hear you Hawkster but it is not the quart jars of ATB’s that are the problem even though I did get 15 rolls of the Arches and will try for 20 of the Everglades. It’s the half gallon jars of nickels that seem to put the bend in the floor. So when are they going to suck the copper-nickel out of those puppys and get this over with? My one proof BHOF 1/2 ordered on the 4th of april went instock on the 4th of july so somebody was working and shipped yesterday so I get to open this one and see what all the hype is:). As Always Good Luck All Ways:>:>:>

  28. KEITHSTER says

High Low they only stay on hold when there is problem so if you still want it get it fixed if not leave it on hold.Debit or Credit All my holds on debit card needed more money the a call So Good Luck All:>:>:>

  29. Brad says

Louis is right, sales of the 2013 First Spouses will continue until the end of December unless they achieve a natural sellout prior to that. Regardless, all of the 2013’s will be keys in their own right. I would wager the Mint didn’t strike more than 3,000 proofs and 2,000 uncs of any of the five designs. It looks like they will have a hard time reaching even that pitiful level. So, Lucy and Lucretia will need to move aside for a new queen by December. Who will it be, that’s the question! Logic would dictate it would likely be Edith Wilson, but not necessarily. If too many people think that and place last-minute orders, she could end up passing Ellen Wilson. I gambled and bought an extra Edith Wilson unc a few weeks ago when they were $795. I hope I shouldn’t have bought Ellen!

I’m glad the limit remains 10,000 for the first two 2014’s at least. There’s no rush to order due to that. Even though poor Florence Harding looks like Grand Moff Tarkin in drag, I’ll still buy her. My sets depend on it!

  30. Louis says

Thanks, Brad. I also read in another publication a prediction that it would be one of the Wilson gals.

  31. ips_stuff says

    @JOHANN

I have an order from 6:13 am P.S.T and one from 11:06 am P.S.T and no movement on either one

have been debating purchase on open market, wonder why my 6:13 am (9:13 eastern) has been bypassed

well what is a few more days when we are approaching 4 months

  32. Johann says

@ips_stuff My orders were placed central time. I think the 29th order is a stretch and never figured it would make it . I was pretty sure the 28th order would make it from what the Mint told me at that time.

  33. fmtransmitter says

my silver uncirc HOF has been in stock and reserved for days! why won’t it ship out if in stock and reserved. thanks in advance …

  34. Brad says

    FM,

For some reason, order fulfillment by the Mint seems to have really slowed down in recent weeks. Everything I’ve ordered has remained “In stock and reserved” for up to a week or so before actually shipping out. It used to be that things seemed to ship out in 2-3 days once reaching IS&R. I thought at first maybe it was just the Baseball HOF Gold coins that would be unusually slow like that, but the same thing happened with the 2014 Silver Proof Sets too. All of the orders I reference were fulfilled either before or after the quarterly inventory, so it doesn’t seem like that was the problem.

  35. VaBeachSteve says

My CC got pinged today for the $5 Uncir HOF coins ordered at 11:15 pm on the 27th. The proofs ordered at the same time came last week.

OT: The new Disney Donald Coins started shipping today

  36. says

    fm,

I guess you didn’t read the small print: “All in stock and reserved items will promptly ship when our full complement of Fullfilment employees return from summer vacations”.

  37. says

Those that have been wondering about the Mintage for the Gold Kennedy. From the Mint’s FB page “To ensure fair and equitable distribution of the 2014 50th Anniversary Kennedy Half-Dollar Gold Proof Coin, the product will be sold based on consumer demand.”

Someone can use my slot in line because I want be using it…

  38. says

I am disappointed in the “mint to demand” for the Kennedy Gold as well.

@cagcrisp…did it mention if this will be a 30 day mint to demand….or just open for sales for as long as the Mint wants? I’m not sure if I will purchase one or not.

I bet the Silver set will be the same way…which I’ll still buy some as I think the different finishes on the Kennedy half is something unique and will look great….something that I’ll want to keep in my collection
