    @Joe M. – Yes, a lot of dreaming goes on at the Mint. They are having a hard time selling 15K of the P pucks let alone 25K. On the bullion side things are a little better but I doubt if they can exceed 50K there.

  4. So Krates says

    I received an email from Monument metals (the new version of Penn Metals?) pumping the bullion Ellis ATB by referring to the mintage as:

    “expected to be limited to 20K” and “slated for a mintage of roughly 20,000”

    Does Jonathan Swyers (founder and CEO) know something we don’t, or is he being misleading?

  5. data dave says

    @So Krates – The previous two issues sold out at 20K so maybe he was just guessing (wrong). The Ellis has sold out at 40K. But still, it is sold out and already going for about $120.

  6. So Krates says

    @ Tom – Never did business there but got on the email list because I wanted to see the buy offers for household limited new mint products.

    I think they went under and had delayed deliveries but i think the new guy came in to save the day. I think everyone got paid or their metals but not sure.

  7. Tinto says

    Just went to APMEX, the banner for Ellis Island bullion popped up stating it’s sold out … dunno if true or not

    So is it possible this recent Hurricane action is supressing US Mint business? Texas will be in recovery mode for a while. Likewise Florida and other areas also. There are a lot of old folks in Florida that won’t be bothering with chunks of metal for a while. I guess sales for this Ellis Island puck will give us a slight clue.

  9. johnaz says

    I got a post card from u.s. mint.2017 us mint silver proof set free shipping.Our last silver proof set. Does that mean no more silver proof set.

  10. John Q. Coinage says

    The mint is likely going to make the silver set .999 fine as authorized by Congress, the old 90% would be lost in the shuffle! The authorized sellers are tring $o hard to beat this market into a frenzy, sellouts, rasiing premiums, etc. Try to sell one to a dealer, luck to get spot…..LCS says no one has ever walked in looking to buy one!!

  11. Tom P. - MA says

    Order placed at 2:42 PM for the Ellis Island P Puck. The product was still available! Order number USM05275xxx (ha ha)

    Then I got an email for the Island of Dreams coin. What a letdown. It was only the Ellis Island coin.

  12. earthling says

    Does anyone that posts here work for the US Mint or are you some sort of contracted Employee? It would be great to have someone to answer questions that anyone might have about Mint policies , procedures or security of production, shipping, and receiving areas.

    @johnaz

    I got the same postcard and I read it as nothing more than the last currently offered silver proof set with free shipping. It appears to be the only currently available silver proof set since the 2016 is sold out. I was happy since I procrastinated this year. Even if they change it to .999 pure silver, it’s still a silver set.

    The boy sort of reminds me of a Chucky type , before he got all influenced by life in Hells Kitchen. The lady is rather attractive but the young Chucky keeps me away from pulling the trigger on this big chunk of Silver.

  15. DBR says

    I’m not sure who wrote here on this blog that just looking at the boy’s face made them go into a rage, but I found that to be hi-lar-i-ous!!!!!

    I remember it and I’m still laughing.

    OT: to all the Florida MNB readers please take hurricane Irma seriously. I just went through the storm and although there wasn’t significant damage where I’m at now, I have never seen buildings that have been built to survive other major hurricanes in the Caribbean be demolished the way they have with been Irma.

    Stay safe, no more post from me until things get better here. Currently no power or running water. CASH IS KING right now so load up before the storm hits.

    I just went looking for that comment about going into a rage from looking at the boys face. I couldn’t find it but I do remember it and can relate to it. I dont ” go into a rage” but it does strike me as really odd. Sort of a goofy weird expression that reminds me of that Chucky Doll monster kid from the “Childs Play” Movie.

    The kids facial expression is enough to keep me away from this monster chunky piece of Silver. I’m getting really selective about loading up with more and more stuff from the US Mint. If it’s not classic material I don’t need it.

    These storms are proving we can’t rely exclusively on electronic currency without electricity and the electronic banking connections. There will need to remain some physical medium of exchange for emergency situations as Eric points out. The coming death of physical currencies seems to be greatly exaggerated in light of the current natural crises.

  19. data dave says

    Listing removed. Looks like they took the premium and added it to spot after multiplying by 20 instead of before.

  20. Jim_D says

    @data dave

    It would seem with todays’s silver price, AMPEX, if that really is AMPEX, is taking a loss on every order.
