Today December 11, 2012 at 12:00 Noon ET, the United States Mint started accepting orders for the Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set featuring Benjamin and Caroline Harrison.
Each set features one uncirculated 2012 Benjamin Harrison Presidential Dollar and one Caroline Harrison Bronze Medal. The coin and medal are mounted on a plastic card containing images of the President and First Lady on the front and coin issuance information on the back.
While the Benjamin Harrison Dollar has been released at earlier dates in a variety of other formats, this represents the first availability of the Caroline Harrison Medal. It will also be released within a four medal set available in a little over a week. (See other news.)
The Presidential $1 Coin and Fist Spouse Medal Sets are priced at $9.95 each, plus applicable shipping and handling. There are no household ordering limits or product limits stated.
Release dates have been posted for what will likely be the final US Mint numismatic products for this year. The Frances Cleveland (Second Term) First Spouse Gold Coins will be released on December 20, 2012. This will be only two weeks after the previous release for the series.
Also on December 20, the US Mint will release the Grover Cleveland and Frances Cleveland (Second Term) Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Set, as well as the 2012 First Spouse Bronze Medal Four Medal Set.
The latest US Mint numismatic sales report has just been posted on Coin Update, which includes the debut figures for the Caroline Harrison First Spouse Gold Coins.
