Upcoming Coin Newsletter Launch

I have been working on a free weekly email newsletter for coin collectors, and I am happy to say that the first issue is ready to go. As such, I would like to invite readers and subscribers of Mint News Blog to sign up to receive the first newsletter.

The newsletter will tie together a lot of the information and news that is presented here and on other websites that I operate. It will also include exclusive content that has not been published elsewhere.

Each newsletter will serve as a concise recap of the week in coins with a look ahead to the coming week. Other features include my own “reflections on collecting” and a weekly focus on a particular coin or coin series.

The newsletter is free and delivered each week to your email inbox. If you don’t enjoy it, you are free to unsubscribe at any time.

The inaugural newsletter is scheduled to be sent on Friday morning at 9:00 AM. To receive it, please sign up below.

CoinsTV.com Launched- Watch Coin Collecting Videos

I am happy to announce the launch of a new coin related website Coins TV!

CoinsTV.com is the official website of the video series “Spare Change: Coin Collecting Guide.” The site contains all previous episodes of the series and will be updated as new episodes are released.

Each video typically focuses on a specific coin series, providing a historical or legislative background, coin design information, coin specifications and composition, key dates of the series, and suggestions for collecting and investing. The information is presented in an informative and entertaining fashion, which beginning and advanced collectors will enjoy.

The Saint Gaudens Double Eagle video is the latest episode to be released. Each episode has its own separate page on CoinsTV.com that allows visitors to rate the video and provide comments. Collectors can subscribe to receive notifications about new videos by RSS or email.

Readers of this blog will know that I enjoy putting together websites to bring web concepts to coin collectors. This latest website is a joint project with the star and producer of Spare Change, Mark Apsolon.

Some of the previous sites I have launched include a coin website directory at CoinWebsites.com, a social network for coin collectors at CoinNetwork.com, a coin news aggregation site at ClickCoins.com, and a coin ratings and review site at CoinReview.com.

I hope readers will enjoy visiting these sites. Tomorrow I will be back with a US Mint News related post. For now, there are a couple of noteworthy articles to check out on Coin Update News:

Write About Coins for Coin Update News

As some readers know, in addition to Mint News Blog, I run another coin related site at CoinUpdate.com. The site has traditionally provided a round up of coin collecting news from various sources around the internet. Today, I am announcing the expansion of the site to include a new section called Coin Update News.

This section provides expanded news coverage of US coins, world coins, and precious metals. In addition to standard news reports, many of the articles on the site will be written to provide unique opinions or perspectives on coins and the coin market. I just posted an article Coin Investing and Speculation, which examines factors which cause certain US Mint products to dramatically rise in value.

The site also includes “Coin Journals” which provide a format for individual collectors to share stories about their personal collections, insights and opinions on different coins, or share first hand experiences from coin related events or exhibits. I posted an article in the Coin Journals section on Bulgarian coins, sharing my observations on circulating coins an currency in Bulgaria after recently vacationing in the country.

While I have gotten the site a started with a few of my own articles, what I really want are articles contributed from individual collectors and coin dealers. I want the site to become a platform for showcasing unique individual perspectives and thoughtful original articles on coins and coin collecting.

Individual collectors and coin dealers are invited to write for Coin Update News. Collectors have a unique opportunity to share their insights or experiences with a board audience and earn money for their contributions. Coin dealers willing to contribute quality articles can gain valuable exposure for their business.

If you are interested in writing for Coin Update News or want to find out more, please contact me through the form on the Contributors page.

CoinReview.com Launched – Rate and Review Coins

I would like to announce the launch of a new coin related website Coin Review!

CoinReview.com allows collectors to rate and review their favorite (or least favorite) coins. Collectors provide ratings on a scale of one to five for the criteria of coin design, historical significance, and investment potential. Collectors can also provide written explanations for their ratings or comment on any other aspect of the coin.

The idea for the site came to me after seeing many readers of Mint News Blog or members of Coin Network expressing their opinions on newly released coins. I thought it would be interesting to create one site exclusively dedicated to coin reviews.

Currently the site allows ratings for nearly 100 coins, including all of the 2009 coin releases with images released, all 50 State Quarters, and recent Commemorative coin issues. If the concept proves popular, I will expand the number of coins to include other recent issues as well as some classic coins.

Please take some time to check out the site. You can post your coin review for the highly touted Ultra High Relief Double Eagle. Some people seem to dislike the reverse of the Abraham Lincoln Commemoratve Silver Dollar. What do you think? Or what about the Louis Braille Commemorative, the coin images have just been released by the US Mint.

In the past few months, I have created a few other coin related websites that bring web concepts to coin collecting. You can also check out Coin Network, a social network for coin collectors, and Click Coins, a start page for coin collectors that automatically aggregates coin content from around the internet. I still have a few other ideas planned, so stay tuned!

ClickCoins.com Launched- Start Page for Coin Collectors

This morning I finished a new coin website that brings all of the internet’s coin collecting news to a single page. It’s called Click CoinsThe Start Page for Coin Collectors.

ClickCoins.com aggregates coin collecting news from a wide variety of blogs, coin news sites, and social sites. The most recent items from each source are listed. Roll your pointer over the item for a preview, and click to go directly to the full post or article.

The purpose of the site is to provide a single page with an organized list of all of the web’s most recent content on coins and coin collecting. In addition to articles and blog posts, you will also find surveys, events, pictures, videos, and forum discussions.

Make Click Coins your home page and get an instant update on all the web’s coin news every time you go online!
