Franklin and Jane Pierce Presidential Dollar & First Spouse Medal Set

On June 24, 2010, the United States Mint will release the Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Set for Franklin and Jane Pierce.

This will actually mark the first numismatic product release from the Mint following a three week gap. On June 3, the 2010 Proof Gold Buffalo and Jane Pierce First Spouse Gold Coins had been released. There have been no products released during the interim.

The Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal set will include one uncirculated (satin finish) Franklin Pierce Presidential Dollar and one Jane Pierce Bronze Medal. The coin and medal will be mounted on an illustrated plastic card with issuance information on the back. The sets are priced at $11.95 each.

Previous releases for this product type remain available for sale for John & Julia Tyler, James & Sarah Polk, Zachary & Margaret Taylor, and Millard & Abigail Fillmore. The last of this product type to sell out featured John & Letitia Tyler and sold 9,695 units.

In other US Mint related news, the Proof 2010 Boy Scouts Silver Dollars went on waiting list status before the weekend. This means that the US Mint has received enough orders to reach the maximum authorized mintage of 350,000 coins across proof and uncirculated options. Orders are still accepted for placement on a waiting list. These orders will be fulfilled on a FIFO basis for any coins available due to order cancellations.

What do you think is going on with these sets on the secondary market? The 2007 sets still sell for quite a lot, despite higher reported sales numbers than the sold out 2009's that don't bring much of anything.

Do you think the Mint's reported numbers are wrong? It seems like there are a lot more than 9,695 John & Letitia Tyler sets in circulation based on the number of those always being offered on eBay!

With the total mintage combined on all.I would rather buy the new 2010 nickel rolls then this garbage. At least the rolls are a much lower mintage compared to previous years and you get .50 of those compared to a one dollar piece of junk and a medal you can never spend. The presidential dollars will be dead until Lincoln comes out I think.Right now the 2010 nickel rolls are hot and they are coming down to earth compared to the rip off jobbers in Puerto Rico. Why someone would pay 59.00 bucks for a roll and have to wait forever to get the roll is beyond my understanding. But to each their own I guess.

With the Territories Coin Covers coming to a close at the end of the month, I was wondering if anyone knew what the final mintage numbers are for the 50 states covers or where one might find that information.

Is the Mint's quarterly inventory interfering with their weekly sales report? I figured it would be available by now. Is there not going to be a report this week?

I just checked AMPEX. They have the 5 ounce silver quarters on their site, but not on sale yet. Does anyone know when they are going to be released?
