US Mint 2009 Product Schedule

The US Mint has now posted the first part of their 2009 Product Release Schedule.

A few notables:

– The first product available will be the 2009 DC & US Territories Quarters Proof Set on January 5, 2009.

– The 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin will be available on January 22, 2009.

– The Abraham Lincoln Commemorative will be available on February 12, 2009. (Lincoln’s birthday)

– Missing from the schedule are all Silver, Gold, and Platinum Eagles. Last year the Proof Silver Eagle was the first product released on January 3, 2008.

    No mention of the first 2009 Lincoln penny? With four being minted in 2009, you’d think at least one every three months. Why not one in the Spring?

    Good observation on the Lincoln Cent. The first design is supposed to be released on Feb 12.

    Maybe this means the US Mint will not offer separate products for each release.

    Regarding the Lincoln cent – it’s also very possible the Mint will just insert it into their product schedule with little fanfare other than a press release before it comes out. I seem to recall them doing that a lot last year, even though products that were to be released after already had specific release dates.
